Using a vanity URL in LinkedIn can help solidify your professional brand. After logging in to LinkedIn, follow these steps:
1. Go to the Edit Profile page. (Profile → Edit Profile)
2. At the bottom of the box that contains your profile picture, name, etc., you’ll see your current URL. If you have not created a vanity URL, it will contain a series of random numbers and letters, as in www.linkedin.com/pub/firstname-lastname/2/475/483/. Click on Edit.
3. Scroll down until you see the “Your public profile URL” box on the right side of the screen. Under “Your current URL,” click “Customize your public profile URL.”
4. Enter the URL you would like to use, and then click Set Custom URL. If your name has been claimed, consider using your middle initial (michellepswanson), a certification/degree (michelleswansonncrw), your profession (executiveresumewriter), or a combination of your name and profession (michelleswansonresumes).
